Subj: BAR CODING CATALOGS

We are presently using scanning software in our showroom to write orders. This has proven to be very practical in writing larger, more accurate and legible orders; improving business for the store, the agency, the sales representative and your company.

Our goal is to also use the same scanning technology on the road to scan catalogs. To have each salesperson barcode their catalogs with barcode stickers is very time consuming and inefficient. It would be much more practical to have catalogs preprinted with the UPC barcode. I am requesting that you carefully consider the inclusion of barcodes in your new catalogs.

I would recommend one of the following options:

1. Print the barcode next to each item in your catalog;
2. Provide a corresponding sheet with barcodes for each catalog page; or
3. Print your main run of catalogs without barcodes, but print extra copies with barcodes (maybe 500) for sales representatives to use on the road.

With the ability to scan catalogs, our sales reps will be more organized and better able to represent your company.
